Clark County Washington Protects Ballot Boxes with Cease Fire Suppression Units
In early October, an individual placed incendiary devices on ballot drop boxes, causing damage and destroying ballots. The first incident occurred on October 8th in Vancouver, followed by two more on October 28th, one in Vancouver and one in Portland. While only a few ballots were damaged in Portland, hundreds were destroyed in Vancouver.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s or 40s with thinning hair. The FBI acknowledges the possibility that the suspect could be a woman or have an accomplice of either gender. The FBI confirmed that thermite was used in the incendiary devices. They expressed concern that the suspect's continued experimentation with thermite could pose a danger to themselves and others.
In response to these attacks, Clark County's elections office is implementing new fire suppression devices on its ballot boxes for the upcoming February 11th special election. The report explicitly states that the old system in use during the ballot box fires failed to prevent hundreds of ballots from being destroyed. Clark County has upgraded their fire suppression systems to Cease Fire proprietary engineered units. Our fire suppression units have been tested and certified to work under these types of conditions.
The FBI is asking the public for assistance in identifying the suspect. They are looking for individuals who may have an unusual admiration for the perpetrator, have been closely following the case, or have been storing or extensively researching thermite.
