Fire Suppression For Aircraft Hangars

Posted 8/20/2017

An aircraft hangar is one of the places where appropriate fire suppression systems are the most critical: protecting aircraft and hangar, as well as valuable equipment and personnel is going to rely on careful planning and design, as well as a combination of water-based and/or dry-chemical-based fire suppression systems. This can be made simple by installing Cease Fire's patented FM Approved and UL Listed dual agent dry chemical fire suppression units into your hangar in just the areas where water-based fire suppression isn't going to be desirable.

Cease Fire has been providing waterless fire protection since 1986, earning a place at the forefront of the dry chemical modular fire suppression industry. Currently, Cease Fire is in negotiations with the U.S. Government to place Cease Fire technology onboard the new DD-221 "zumwalt" class ships. In addition to the U.S. Government, Cease Fire's fire suppression units have been used by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), O'Hare International Airport, Honeywell, LTV Steel, Navistar, US National Park Service, Chicago Transit Authority, London Underground, and Intel. In the years since 1986, over 250,000 automatic units and ten million handheld portables have been sold—and the demand for systems that suppress fire without water keeps growing.

Planning and installing the waterless fire suppression system you need as a backup system to your aircraft hangar's sprinkler system is much simpler than you might think. Cease Fire's CFP 6750, shown in above photo, dry chemical fire suppression units are completely portable, and are the industry's only truly modular system. This means no pipes—just a pre-engineered unit mounted to the ceiling. If your aircraft hangar has large areas you desire to protect with the dry chemical fire suppression units, simply install multiple units. Again, no pipes—just individual, standalone fire suppression units that are simply removed from the mounting flange when maintenance or replacement is needed.

The Cease Fire ABC powder blend has been proven to be non-corrosive, a necessary trait in protecting your aircraft. It has also proven to be non-conductive, and—importantly for the pilots and other personnel occupying the aircraft hangar—is non-toxic. This allows safe evacuation of the burning hangar as well as makes for easier, safer clean-up when the fire is extinguished.

Cease Fire has supplied hundreds of customers with the gentle but powerful fire suppression systems that their facilities need, in an efficient, cost-effective manner. Don't rely on your water-based sprinkler systems alone for fire protection—install a dry chemical system and rest assured that neither fire nor water will damage your hangar's most fragile equipment.
